Rick And Morty Get A Weird Whodunnit In Oni Press’ ‘Rick And Morty Presents: The Hotel Immortal’

by Richard Bruton

In July 2021 it’s time to take a trip to the Hotel Immortal with Rick and Morty, “where the Murderer is isn’t even the True Mystery!”

The Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group have teamed up again with Adult Swim to bring you even more in the Rick and Morty Presents line. This time it’s Rick And Morty Presents: The Hotel Immortal, coming in July 2021, from the creative team of writer Alejandro Arbona, illustrator Marc Ellerby, and colorist Leonardo Ito, with lettering by Crank!.

This next instalment takes Rick and Morty into the world of the whodunnit, as Cornvelious Daniels checks in for some R&R at The Hotel Immortal and the bodies start dropping—and accusations start flying!

“I love a ‘locked-room’ murder mystery. It’s a genre that a fool might think was completely played out after Agatha Christie, but leave it to movies like Clue or Knives Out to come along once a generation and blow that conceit out of the water. The question isn’t even who killed the victim, or why, it’s…how the hell? And now it falls to Rick and Morty to crack that one—but mostly Morty, because Rick doesn’t care.” – Writer Alejandro Arbona.

As for the artist… well, If you didn’t already know, Marc Ellerby‘s a big favourite here, and we’ve followed him through his self-published comics, Elerbisms and Chloe Noonan, through to his work on Rick and Morty that he’s been working on since 2015. Go check him out at marcellerby.com, support him making new comics through his Patreon or tip him over at Ko-fi. Or just say Hi on Twitter!

“It’s a testament to the property that as I approach my nine hundredth interior page of Rick and Morty comics, I’m still able to work on new stories that haven’t been done before. A Wubba Lubba Who-Dunnit!? Sign me up!” – Artist Marc Ellerby.

Rick and Morty Presents: Hotel Immortal #1 will be available online and in stores on July 14th, 2021.

Finally, be sure to read both our 2018 interview with Marc Ellerby and the preview/overview of the new Chloe Noonan series, including his full ‘Quarantine Chloe’ strip, ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe‘.

And because I will always take any chance I can to show you Chloe Noonan…
