A Phantom Makes A Menace Of Itself On Next Week’s ‘Supergirl’
by Erik Amaya
The Phantoms are a nasty Multiversal surprise. Sure, they look like would-be Nosferatus or Remans from Star Trek, but they bring a nice horror tinge to Supergirl. And as this preview for next week’s show indicates, one Phantom has plan for Earth-Prime. Meanwhile, the rest of the Superfriends find ways to cope with their new circumstances — although it’s clear Alex (Chyler Leigh) isn’t so thrilled with J’onn’s coping mechanism.
As we said last week, keeping Kara (Melissa Benoist) in the Phantom Zone is a good way to deal with the star’s absence during the early part of Season 7’s production. Apparently, scenes with Supergirl and Zor-El (Jason Behr) were shot in January when Benoist returned to set. We suppose that means it will be several episodes before Kara rejoins the Superfriends, which should be a good source of drama.
Also adding to the tension, Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) skating out of that murder trial. We’re not sure if he’s going to be the big bad again this year, but his shadow continues to add texture to the series — especially if it gives William (Staz Nair) something to do! Seeing him reduced to reacting to a television screen was, probably, the funniest aspect of the episode.
Supergirl airs Tuesdays on The CW.
