Lucy Liu Joins ‘Shazam: Fury Of The Gods’ As Kalypso

It seems Shazam (Zachary Levi) will face a star-studded rogues gallery in his upcoming sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucy Liu has joined the cast of Shazam: Fury of the Gods as Kalypso. As the site points out, the character is a daughter of Atlas in Greek mythology. And though not an established DC comics character, it appears she will work in concert with Helen Mirren‘s Hespera to wrangle with the fate of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and his marvelous adopted family. Although her part has not been confirmed, Rachel Ziegler may play the third sister in the triumvirate. Their aim, of course, is obscure. It also takes further from our assumption that Mister Mind would play a key role after his prison break at the end of the first Shazam! film. Or, who knows, maybe he awakens the gods’ fury as part of his long game.

Besides Levi and Angel, the film will see the return of director David F. Sandberg and cast members Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, and Adam Brody.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set for release on June 2nd, 2023.
