‘Sonjaversal’ To Continue With Issue #6 In July

Although originally meant to be a five-issue miniseries, Dynamite Entertainment announced on Thursday that Sonjaversal will continue with a new storyline. Writer Christopher Hastings and artist Pasquale Qualano continue their run on the title, but in a change from the previous scope of the multiverse-hopping series, the She-Devil with a sword’s new adventures will take a more episodic air. As an example, issue #6 will feature the debut of Noir Sonja as she hunts down an individual making a huge splash in the criminal underworld despite the fact they’re already dead. Making matters worse: a bunch of other alternate Sonjas arrives on the scene.

“I love to play with genre, and this arc is going to be all about mashing up Red Sonja’s sword and sorcery with noir, then gothic horror, then space opera, and 80s action movies. It’s a blast,” Hastings said in a statement.

The release will be backed with covers from Lucio Parrillo, Joseph Michael Linsner, Jae Lee, Junggeun Yoon and a cosplay cover.

Sonjaversal #6 is due for release in July.
