The Princess of The Never-Ending Castle takes place in an alternate timeline during the Japanese War for Unification. In true history, warlord Oda Nobunaga was betrayed and assassinated by his closest general, Akechi Mitsuhide. This story explores what would have happened if Nobunaga had defeated Mitsuhide and continued his rule.
The point in time and space where Nobunaga was supposed to die fractures creating two alternate realities, each existing in their own castle. The twin castles grow like divergent branches of a tree with Nobunaga ruling one castle and Mitsuhide ruling the other. The plot thickens when Nobunaga’s wife, Princess Nō seeks revenge on Mitsuhide for murdering her husband; she is the Princess of The Never-Ending Castle.
I gave a glowing review for the initial oversized hardcover edition and distributer Hollow Press took note of my feedback regarding the English translation and are reprinting The Princess of The Never-Ending Castle both in hardcover and in a new softcover. This latest “pocket edition” is roughly the size of a normal graphic novel in the States. Therefore, now is the perfect time to take a risk on an unconventional story.
Kago has even teased images from a supposed sequel or spiritual successor!
The Princess of The Never-Ending Castle softcover pocket edition is available now from Hollow Press.
