Not Your Final Girl Podcast: I Am Your Mother

by Brendan M. Allen

Happy Mother’s Day, ghouls. Ariel Dyer and Candace Sluder at Not Your Final Girl are keen to delve into some of the less palatable experiences of motherhood, such as when your kid just has extremely bad vibes.

Candace and Ariel are talking about the violent and sci-fi tinged Into the Dark installation All That We Destroy (2019) and the movie that inducted Tilda Swinton into horror mom-dom: We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Aside from covering goo-based life forms, unsettlingly tiny shirts, people named Ezra, nature vs nurture, and possible either communing with the dead or uploaded consciousness, we also get into their own personal childhood horror stories. Because we’ve all got ’em, don’t we? Hopefully not as bad as Kevin or Spencer, but still, kids are a horror on their own.

Also please, please if you have some dad-centered horror for NYFG to cover for Father’s Day, hit them up. Not enough horror dads exist, and it’s a damn shame.

Comicon thanks Not Your Final Girl for allowing us to premiere episodes of their podcast. The full archive can be found on Morbidly Beautiful’s official website, morbidlybeautiful.com.
