‘Beebo Saves Christmas’ This Holiday Season On The CW
by Erik Amaya
It seems the WarnerMedia machine is finally ready to utilize the power of Beebo.
The CW announced Tuesday the imminent arrival of Beebo Saves Christmas, a holiday special set to air sometime in the fourth quarter of 2021. The special is, of course, based on the iconic toy featured in several Legends of Tomorrow episodes. The plot will see Beebo confronting Sprinkles, an “efficiency-obsessed elf” who decides jolly ol’ Saint Nick is too inefficient for the Yuletide cheer. As a consequence, Beebo and his friends “travel to the North Pole to help discover what truly makes Christmas meaningful.” Ben Diskin returns the voice of Beebo with Kimiko Glenn as the voice of Tweebo, Yvette Nicole Brown as the voice of Turbo, Keith Ferguson as the voice of Fleabo, Chris Kattan as the voice of Sprinkles, Ernie Hudson as the voice of Santa and Legends vet Victor Garber as the narrator.
The special is written by Matt Maala and Kevin Shinick and executive produced by Sam Register, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, Phil Klemmer, Grainne Godfree, Marc Guggenheim and Keto Shimizu.
Beyond the glee of seeing Beebo finally get a special of his own, we’re going to assume its existence means WarnerMedia is finally in a position to make some Beebo merchandise. Ever since the character first appeared in Legends‘ third season, people have been asking for stuffed dolls and other Beebo gear, but Warner’s consumer products team have yet to make one stitch of official merchandise. People on Etsy have filled the gap, of course, but we suspect whatever legal hurdle the company faced — “Beebo” is also the name of a hands-free bottle feeder — has been resolved.
And really, since Beebo is powered by market desires, it only makes sense he would finally become a toy in our world at this point in history.
Beebo Saves Christmas airs on The CW later this year.
