Superman Confronts The Stranger In A Preview Of Next Week’s ‘Superman & Lois’

by Erik Amaya

With the Stranger’s (Wolé Parks) identity finally out in the open, it’s time for Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to get to the bottom of his issues with the Man of Steel. And while the newly-captured man from another reality tells his tale of a world on the brink of destruction, Jon (Jordan Elsass) gets into another big scrape. Or, maybe, he’s just complaining about stopping Jordan (Alex Garfin) from shattering that guy in Metropolis again. Will Clark be able to juggle his son’s issues and convince the Stranger that he will never betray the world?

Okay, enough being coy about this: despite being addressed as “Captain Luthor” by the suit AI, the Stranger is really John Henry Irons; a idea well-seeded as he and his daughter Natalie (Tayler Buck) built the Lexosuit. It’s an absolutely brilliant pull from the DC Comics lore and it makes his romance with the Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) of his Earth all the more interesting. While we’re going to assume his Earth was destroyed in the Crisis, it’s still possible he’s from an alternate world in the new Multiverse and this first incursion will have repercussions for the Arrowverse going forward. It also means this version of Steel could end up an ally if he ever learns to see beyond his thirst for vengeance. That right there makes his appearances up until now worth the effort.

Also, we’re convinced Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) is going to end up with powers thanks to all that X-Kryptonite floating around.

Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays on The CW.
