The War Of Kryptonians Is About To Begin On ‘Superman & Lois’
by Erik Amaya
Although Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) have reached a detente, his warning of a war with Kryptonians is about to become a reality. Or, at least, that’s what this trailer for next week’s Superman & Lois indicates. Meanwhile, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) continue to find trouble and Jon confronts his grandfather, General Sam Lane (Dylan Walsh), about the weapons in Room 7734. Will it lead to Jon trying to arm himself again?
In terms of the season arcs, it’s interesting to see the X-Kryptonite now positioned as not just giving humans superpowers, but somehow imbuing them with the minds of actual Kryptonians. You almost have to wonder if Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner) is even Morgan Edge or, perhaps, a Zod. Or, maybe, a member of that house will be reserved for Kyle (Erik Valdez) once he badgers Edge into a spot in the program.
Either way, it is worth noting how the show shifts from this point on with John, Sam, and Clark nearly on the same page. Makes you wonder if they will ultimately fight side-by-side against Edge’s Kryptonians.
Meanwhile, we have to credit Tulloch and Elsass for navigating some difficult emotional material. That said, it does seem strange that next week’s episode will hit the point of Jon’s safety again … but the boy does seem to cycle around to the same couple of ideas; a dose of realism the show occasionally pulls off.
Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays on The CW.
