‘Psychonauts 2’ Will Finally Debut This August

Psychonauts 2 is the long-awaited sequel to DoubleFine’s imaginative cult-classic debut game, Psychonauts. Players will take control of the boy acrobat, Raz, on his quest to become a psychic secret agent. In the first game, Raz attended psychic summer camp and unraveled a plot involving a lake monster, massive brain theft, and a Meat Circus.
In Psychonauts 2, Raz will finally reach legendary Psychonauts headquarters where there will be new mysteries to solve and new minds to explore. Gameplay in Psychonauts consists of using psychic powers and entering characters’ minds in the form of psychedelic levels.
DoubleFine studio founder Tim Schafer promised Psychonauts 2 would be “bigger and darker” than the first game. The game’s production has been a long and rocky road, beginning with a crowdfunding campaign and culminating with a studio merger with Microsoft. As a lover of imaginative, colorful, platformers, I hope Psychonauts 2 does well and reignites interest in these types of games.
Psychonauts 2 will release on August 25, 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Mac, PS4, and PS5 with backwards compatibility.
