‘Star Trek: Prodigy’ Adds Dee Bradley Baker And 5 More To Cast

by Erik Amaya

The crew of the Prodigy has been revealed.

Variety reports Ella Purnell, Brett Gray, Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker, Angus Imrie and Jason Mantzoukas will join Kate Mulgrew on the upcoming Paramount+ series, Star Trek: Prodigy. Aimed at younger viewers, the animated program — set in 2383 — will revolve around a group of aliens in the Delta Quadrant who find an abandoned Starfleet vessel and Janeway (Mulgrew), a Starfleet Training Hologram, who aids them as they take control of the ship and begin trekking through the stars.

Purnell stars as 17-year-old Gwyn, a member of the Vau N’Akat species with an absolute need to explore. Gray plays Dal, a nonconformist who hopes for a better future. Alazraqui lends her voice to eight-year-old Rok-Tahk, a shy Brikar with a love for animals. Baker will play a blob called Murf; Imrie is Zero, a Medusan who must where an encounter suit to protect their fellow crew; and Mantzoukas plays Jankom Pog, a 16-year-old Tellarite who often plays the devil’s advocate.

The series comes from executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman, who hope to make the show an entry point for young viewers to discover Star Trek. It is set for release later this year.
