by Erik Amaya
Dynamite Entertainment is setting up a new presence in the kids’ market.
On Tuesday, the company jointly announced with Curiosity Ink Media plans to launch a line of books aimed at children based on Curiosity’s original intellectual property and titles the company will develop for other brands. The first titles are planned for release in the Spring of 2022. The first will be Curiosity Books’ Baldwin’s Big Adventure, a picture book about an unassuming, but fearless switcher train with a giant heart. The second, a Book-Plus Novelty release based on Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol. Subsequent releases will include graphic novels.
Additionally, Dynamite will serve as distributor for Curiosity’s licensed properties and original material.
“Locking arms with Dynamite underscores Curiosity’s commitment to premium publishing and our mission to entertain kids through unique immersive storytelling content,” Jon I. Rosenberg, Curiosity’s head of publishing, said in a statement. “Dynamite shares our vision of promoting reading as one of the joys in life we hope to instill in kids at a young age and embrace as a life-long habit.” Beyond heading the company’s publishing division, he will also lead the alliance by cultivating Curiosity’s original IP for future projects.
“The best way to grow the industry is to have diverse offerings for younger readers, and then encouraging them to continue to read both our children’s books, and then our comics, and all segments of the industry will grow,” Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci added. “By offering Curiosity’s immersive content alongside our proven portfolio of best-selling properties, Dynamite can embrace a wider fan base with new, premium titles.”
The new initiative between Dynamite and Curiosity begins in 2022.
