Zombies, Violence, And Awkward First Dates: ‘Zombie Date Night’ On Kickstarter

by Brendan M. Allen

Stop me if you’ve heard this. Boy matches with girl. Boy and Girl meet up for first date. Boy and Girl face zombie invasion.

From the twisted mind of Steve Urena, the guy who brought you fast killer sloths in Slow Pokes, comes a horror-comedy that is full of zombies, romance, and even a grandmother fighting off a horde of zombies with a chancleta. Feast your eyes on Zombie Date Night, now live on Kickstarter.

Drawn by Sergi Domènech, edited by Allegra Calderaro, lettered by Anthony Rella and colored by Joe Jensen, this reimagining of the zombie genre is a hilarious action-packed thrill ride that will sink its teeth into you while leaving you on the edge of your seat.

“I want to give my take on a zombie story while doing something a little different than what people are used to”, says Urena. “We’ve all been on awkward first dates. But what if you were trying to put your best foot forward and a zombie outbreak happened? What would you do? Zombie Date Night helps me answer that question in the craziest and most fun way possible.”

Backer rewards start at three bucks for a digital copy of the book. Higher tiers include physical copies of the book, T-shirts, posters, and what may be the coolest cameo opportunities ever, getting zombified, or getting killed by zombies in the next edition of Zombie Date Night
