Nickelodeon Creates Their Own ‘Smash’ Clone With ‘Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’
by Sage Ashford
Considering Super Smash Bros is the most popular fighting game of all time, it’s a wonder more companies don’t try to create their own clones. But Nickelodeon has decided to get in on the act as they recently announced a new title developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs called Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl — a platform fighter with characters from across all their various cartoon properties.
The trailer shows characters like TMNT‘s Leonardo and Michelangelo, The Loud House‘s Lincoln Loud, Spongebob Squarepants‘ Spongebob, Patrick Star, and Sandy Cheeks. But it’s not only the major characters or television shows being featured as older properties like Aah! Real Monsters and Ren and Stimpy make appearances, with the latter offering Powdered Toast Man and the former lending Oblina to the roster.
According to the trailer, the fighting game will have twenty levels, with each themed after different areas from the properties. The game will allow for both single-player and multiplayer in online and local modes.
So far, there’s no word on whether Avatar: The Last Airbender will be included, but considering all the deep dives being made here, it seems like that’s only a matter of time.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is planned to release Fall 2021 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and the Nintendo Switch.
