Clark Doubts His Resolve On Next Week’s ‘Superman & Lois’

by Erik Amaya

Although the current crisis has been resolved, Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) tasted power while under the influence of the Eradicator and, as he admits in this preview for next week’s episode, he liked it. Will a residual amount of Zod drive Clark to do something rash?

We have to admit, it was pretty lame to learn the Eradicator was implanting a Zod into Clark’s body. As we mentioned a month or so back — it’s so hard to tell with all the hiatus this show has experienced — twisting Edge (Adam Raynor) into a new Kryptonian adversary was a genuinely cool idea because it kept Zod off the table. But then, wham, Zod appears. Sure, it was only a brief moment, but it lacked the impact the show seemed to be going for. A deeper pull like Jax-Ur might’ve worked better.

Nevertheless, the show remains more or less solid — although, we don’t know what to make of the Cushing family’s current situation. The push-pull with Kyle (Erik Valdez) feels like it wants to be a story of alcoholism, but the show is unwilling to commit. And now that Smallville will be pointing figures at him and Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) for what happened, it seems the family will have to be more united than ever before. We’re not entirely sure that’s the right call as Kyle is still an inconsistent drunk.

Oh, also, isn’t it interesting to hear that Diggle (David Ramsey) has put cosmic stuff like alternate Earths and “glowing boxes” behind him?

Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays on The CW.
