Hot Toys Unveils New Marvel And Star Wars Collectibles

by Gary Catig

Last week, Hot Toys announced a trio of convention exclusives that collectors could get their hands on in the future. Recently, they unveiled additional 1/6 scale figures that come from both the Marvel and Star Wars franchises.

The first item they showed is a Doctor Strange/Iron Man mash-up that is inspired from the concept art of an alternate scene in Avengers: Endgame. In the scene, Tony Stark deploys his high-tech Nano Suit to protect Strange from Ebony Maw’s torture needles. Then the Eye of Agamotto burns a glyph into the suit making it magic as well.

The figure resembles actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, with a newly painted head sculpt and an interchangeable LED light-up helmeted head. It also has a specially painted suit with the Eye of Agamotto pattern along with several LED light up functions and a variety of weapons and accessories.

Hot off the release of the latest MCU film, Black Widow will receive a new figure based off of Scarlett Johannsson’s likeness with features including a newly developed hair and face sculpture; a finely tailored black tactical outfit with gold accents; highly-detailed weapons including a pair of multiple interchangeable batons; and her pistols.

Hot Toys then goes back to where the MCU began with its Iron Man Mark 1. It has a newly painted helmeted head sculpt of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and is made in diecast material with real wires and cables. In addition, there are multiple layers of ultra-realistic painting and weathering effects to replicate the texture of his improvised suit; LED light-up functions on the Arc Reactor and forearm; a highly accurate engine motor on the back with rotary design simulating the running engine; and a Flamethrower with special-effects accessories.

They are also creating a new line called the Armorized Warrior Collection where they reimagine fan favorite characters in highly advanced armor. Deadpool is the first figure in the line and comes with a helmeted head and heavily advanced armor (both with LED light up functions) as well as a selection of signature weapons such as pistols – that can be combined and transformed into a heavy machine gun – and plenty of blades, including a dagger, twin short handled-sai, four shuriken, and a pair of Katanas.

From the Star Wars universe is a Boba Fett and throne set. Modelled after the post-credits scene in The Mandalorian season two finale, it comes with the throne along with a Boba Fett which has an ultra-realistic hand-painted head sculpt of Boba Fett, his Mandalorian helmet and armor, his jetpack, and multiple swap-out accessories.

If you don’t want the throne, the figure will be available separately as well. It features an on-screen accurate helmet and armor with exceptional paint application, as well as Boba’s iconic jetpack, a skillfully tailored outfit, a flamethrower effect, a fibercord whip, a blaster, a rifle, and more.

All these figures are up for pre-order at Sideshow.
