Something huge is happening in October’s Vampirella #25.
Dynamite Entertainment announced Monday that the upcoming issue will see the character tie the knot in a story which is “not a fake out.” It comes from writer Christopher Priest and artist Ergun Gunduz. According to Dynamite’s description of the story, “a mysterious, innocent young man is beset with a deadly prophecy. He may just be the resurrection of the one and only deadly Dracula. But with a chance of breaking the curse with the power of love, Vampirella forges a bond in blood to save his life and destiny. ”
“Like most everything we’ve done in Vampirella, expect the unexpected,” Priest said in a statement, “Which, of course, makes it really hard to promote without giving away the surprises. It’s a tired trope to say this is a Dracula story unlike any you’ve read before — but it really is. And, unlike some other big announcements, our gal won’t be left at the altar!” The issue will be the culmination of the story Priest has been telling in Vampirella, but Dynamite is playing coy about whether or not he will continue on the book. According to them, the issue, which also closes out the 50th anniversary celebration of the character, is “the ending of the critically acclaimed era, but the start of something even bigger.”
Covers for the issue include work from Gunduz, Lucio Parrillo, Shannon Maer, Marco Mastrazzo, InHyuk Lee, Maria Laura Sanapo, Rose Besch, Zoe Lacchei, KyuYong Eom, and Emanuela Lupacchino.
Vampirella #25 is due out in October.
