Writer Fred Van Lente Orchestrates A ‘Jennifer Blood’ Return This October
by Erik Amaya
Jennifer Blood returns this October in a new series from Dynamite.
The company announced Monday that Fred Van Lente will write the new series with Red Sonja‘s Vincenzo Federici picking up art duties. The plot centers on Bountiful, Utah — a town composed of mobsters undercover or in witness protection. When bodies start piling up, a rumor spreads indicating the seemingly deceased Jennifer Blood has returned. And her dedication to putting mob goons in the ground could start a new battle for supremacy.
“To bring back Jennifer Blood, I really wanted to come up with a setting worthy of her,” Van Lente said in a statement. “The town of Bountiful is like the suburb at the end of Goodfellas, full of Ray Liottas who have cut a deal with the Feds. But Jennifer Blood doesn’t cut deals, she just brings spectacularly gory vengeance to criminals who thought they’d escaped justice.”
“This opportunity is incredible for many reasons! First of all Jennifer Blood is a Garth Ennis character!” Federici added. “Then, I’m in love with Fred’s work after I had the opportunity to work with him previously. This new story is totally crazy!”
Lucio Parrillo provides the lead cover for the first issue with variants from Lesley “Leirix” Li, Junggeun Yoon, Joseph Michael Linsner and cosplayer Rachel Hollon.
Jennifer Blood #1 is scheduled for release in October.
