Michaela Coel Reportedly Joins ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

The cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever continues to expand.

Variety reports I May Destroy You creator and star Michaela Coel is now set to play an undisclosed role. She joins returning cast members Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett. Tenoch Huerta is also said to be onboard as the antagonist, with many suggesting he will turn out to be Namor, the Submariner.

Of course, the film is missing star Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away last year. And, presumably, the film’s plot will deal with the absence — or even death — of T’Challa. Director Ryan Coogler rewrote the script earlier this year after a period of mourning. Of course, it remains to be seen how that will be incorporated into what is still an action picture with the Marvel Studios branding.

The film is set to bow on July 8, 2022
