Albatross Exploding Funnybooks has revealed a new look at their upcoming true crime graphic novel, Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? Harold Schechter teams with graphic novelist Eric Powell to bring you the tale of one of the most notoriously deranged murderers in American history next Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
Powell is probably best known as the creator of the long-running occult noir series The Goon, and has also worked on titles like Action Comics and Swamp Thing. Schechter is a true crime author who penned nonfiction books Deviant and The Serial Killer Files.
Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? is an in-depth exploration of the Gein family and what led to the creation of the necrophile who haunted the dreams of 1950s America and inspired such films as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs.
Schechter says
Obviously Ed Gein’s story has been fictionalized many times in the movies. In no visual medium, however, have the bizarre inner workings of his mind been explored and portrayed. The graphic novel is the perfect medium to conduct such an exploration.
Painstakingly researched and illustrated, Schechter and Powell’s true-crime graphic novel takes the Gein story out of the realms of exploitation and gives the reader a fact-based dramatization of these tragic, psychotic and heartbreaking events. Because, in this case, the truth needs no embellishment to be horrifying.
