‘Y:The Last Man’ Trailer Reveals The End Of Men

The apocalypse of Y:The Last Man is different. Something causes almost all the humans with the Y chromosome to drop dead. The event is not fully depicted in the early issues of the comic book series by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra, but for the purposes of the FX on Hulu television series based on it, the end of men is a pivotal event. Therefore, the trailer for the long-awaited series focuses in on that more than it does on Yorick (Ben Schnetzer), the last human carrier of the chromosome on planet Earth.
And, to be honest, we’re more interesting seeing women resolve the various infrastructure crises which would arise from 49% of the population dying than Yorick’s journey at this point. Of course, we imagine his story will become interesting, but its clear “women running the nation” was the unique selling point for Y as a TV series. Speaking of the program’s female cast, Diane Lane also stars as Yorick’s mother, Senator Jennifer Brown, Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham, Marin Ireland as Nora Brady, Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann, Juliana Canfield as Beth Deville, Ashley Romans as Agent 355, and Olivia Thirlby as Hero Brown. Some will join Yorick as they search for answers while the rest will no doubt try to save the nation as it scrambles to put some order back together.
Y: The Last Man debuts September 13th.
