Funimation is getting the jump on 2022 with a new romantic comedy based on a popular manga from Hiroshi Noda and Takahiro Wakamatsu, Love After World Domination. The series follows Fudou Aikawa and Desumi Magahara, two sworn enemies. Fudou is Red Gelato, who leads the Gelato 5 and battles against Gecko, an evil organization aiming for world domination that Desumi is a part of as the leader of an army of minions.
But while the two are enemies at “work”, in their private lives they’re both in love with one another, going on dates whenever they can get time away from their respective jobs. Fudou Aikawa is played by Yusuke Kobayashi (Dr. Stone‘s Senku) and Desumi Magahara is played by Ikumi Hasegawa (86‘s Vladilena Milize). The series is being directed by Kazuya Iwata (Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Dreaming Girl), while the series composition is being handled by Satoru Sugizawa, who previously wrote for Cute Executive Officer.
Love After World Domination is published in Monthly Shonen Magazine, and launched in October 2019, which makes this a shockingly quick turn-around that indicates the series popularity, but also makes it likely this is just a single season anime.
