‘Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’ Shows An In-Depth Look At It’s Game Mechanics

by Sage Ashford

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is Ludosity and Fair Play Labs’ fighter that features major Nickelodeon characters like Spongebob, the Ninja Turtles, and the Fairly Odd-Parents. A love-letter to three decades worth of cartoons, the game was announced earlier this year with plans of launching later this fall.

Now though, the developers have sat down with IGN to do a detailed look at the gameplay mechanics of their title. The lengthy trailer is reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. creator’s Masahiro Sakurai’s in-depth looks at new characters, as the video explains how basic and advanced attacks work. Dash attacks, canceling, the ability to redirect projectiles and other mechanics are explained in the video.

The game looks like a true contender with one major exception–the sound quality is sorely lacking. It’s already been confirmed that none of the voice actors will be reprising their roles, and it doesn’t appear as if new voices will be used either. Meanwhile, the special effects sound re-hashed and lend a generic feel to an otherwise gorgeous game.  Hopefully they manage to hash this out before the game launches.

Nickeloedon All-Star Brawl does not have a confirmed release date yet, but will be releasing on consoles and PC.
