Locke & Key returns October 22nd on Netflix. And to celebrate its imminent return, Netflix unlocked a teaser with tantalizing glimpses of the second season.
The story of the Locke family takes a turn as Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira and Felix Mallard) continues their masterplan. Meanwhile, Locke children Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones), and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) learn more about themselves and their family heritage as additional magical keys come into their possession. But what of the key Dodge forged in the teaser? Will it allow more darkness to enter the world? And will the grown-ups ever be able to retain the knowledge of magic?
Although fairly different in tone from the comics of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, we found the first season to be an interesting remix of the books ideas via a more fanciful lens. Jones and Darby Stanchfield stole the series as Kinsey and her mother, Nina, respectively. From this teaser, though, it seems the show will embrace more of the comic book’s horror elements. Which is probably a good idea. Easing into the terror of Locke & Key may have been the approach the long-in-the-works series needed.
