Veronica Threatens Hiram On Next Week’s ‘Riverdale’
by Rachel Bellwoar
You’d think Hiram (Mark Consuelos) would be proud his daughter bested him. She learned from the “best,” after all, but, as always seems to be the case whenever things don’t go Hiram’s way, he can’t mortally wound Veronica (Camila Mendes), so Archie (KJ Apa) gets hurt instead. While we don’t know the identity of the other miner who’s going to be trapped inside the mine with him, next week’s promo definitely indicates Archie. The real question, though: will Saint Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) be able to save him?
Speaking of sainthood, you’d think after Toni (Vanesa Morgan) gave birth last week, that Cheryl and Kevin (Casey Cott) would have better things to do than partake in a power struggle with Cheryl’s mom (Nathalie Boltt), but sure. That’s the next, logical step in their storylines.
Also, alcoholism is serious and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) admitting he needs help is a big step, but why does the show keep insisting that viewers sympathize with him? Just because he backed out at the last minute doesn’t make the fact that he was ready to plagiarize a grad student (Megan Peta Hill) — and he was sober when he made that decision — okay, and you’d think he was always such a selfless guy, from the way Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) insists he not worry about Betty (Lili Reinhart). But Jughead has always been fairly self-absorbed. Also, why has it become Tabitha’s responsibility to take care of Jughead and Betty? They’re not good friends. More of her franchising Pop’s, please, and less of her endangering her life for these people.
