Pennyworth is making one key move: it will be joining the HBO Max roster for its third season.
As announced at DC FanDome on Saturday, the program will be leaving its EPIX berth and finding a home amongst the DC Entertainment stable of series on the Warner Bros. streaming platform. Additionally, the first two seasons of the program will become available on the service in early 2022.
The new season, as discussed during the presentation, will see the story move five years after the English civil war. It’s aftermath has ushered in an age of superheroes and supervillains and, somewhere in that mix, is good old Alfie (Jack Bannon). Ben Aldridge, Emma Paetz, and Paloma Faith, as do Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Ramon Tikaram, Harriet Slater, and Simon Manyonda also return as their characters.
The move is somewhat surprising as EPIX seemed like a good home for the program. Nevertheless, calling Pennyworth home suggests HBO Max is trying very hard to get as much of its DC-branded content under one roof. Wonder what this means for the Arrowverse in the long run?
