Something For The Weekend: Ten To Takeaway From Last Week’s News, Previews And More

Welcome, welcome, welcome to your regular weekend selection of top posts from across the week and across the pop cultural landscape. Let’s not dilly-dally any longer, but see what you’ve all been reading this week, starting off with the regular columns we run that made it onto the list this week:
- Last week’s Review Round Up was popular, as was Richard Bruton’s Art for Art’s Sake and his weekly preview of 2000 AD in The Weekly 2000 AD. And, Tony Thornley’s Classic Comics Cavalcade too, which looked at Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1952 last Sunday.
- Last weekend we debuted the first instalment of The ICE-Cast Live podcast, season 2 with special guest Ron Frenz. And if you haven’t caught it yet, now’s your chance (here).
- We also brought you the winners of this year’s Ringo Awards. The full list of nominees and winners can be found here, along with full show on video too.
- On the comic book crowdfunding front Brendan Allen posted news about a new Kickstarter from Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard. An all new graphic novel as well as a deluxe collection of their mini-series, Plastic, which you read up on here.
- Proving that not all UK comic book event occur in the capital, I posted news of a multi-store signing for new indie horror anthology, Dead by Dawn #1 from Scar Comics here.
- Our spoilerific preview for Mirka Andolfo’s Sweet Paprika #4 was a hit too. Catch it here now.
- Tito W James brought us the most popular post of the past week with his review of Netflix’s, Maya And The Three. Congrats on that one, Tito!
- Brendan gave us a first look at BOOM! Studios’ Maw #3 here, as well as popular previews for Firefly #33 and Black Caravan/Scout Comics’ Swamp Dogs here.
- Invincible Red Sonja #5 from Dynamite Comics was another popular preview, and a great looking book with stunning art by much overlooked artist, Moritat.
- Finally, for this week, another preview, and one appropriate for this witching season: DC Comics DC Vs. Vampires #1.
