At long last, a trailer for The Book of Boba Fett has surfaced and it seems the title character (Temuera Morrison) intends to do more with Jabba the Hutt’s empire than merely rule. If what he says here is to be believed, he aims to democratize the underworld. Or, at least, offer the captains of Jabba’s former holdings to share in the wealth and the responsibility. But then, considering the people, aliens, and assorted droids involved, Fett may have no choice but to rule with fear.
Joining Fett on this peculiar quest is Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), and though the voice asking him questions early in the trailer is visually tied to an Ithorian , it sure sounds like Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) to our ears. Also, we couldn’t help but notice the absence of Dengar and Bossk from the proceedings.
Behind the camera, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson serve as executive producers with Favreau, Filoni, and Rodriguez presumably splitting the writing duties. We still wonder about the lack of a more extensive cast list, but then we recall The Mandalorian only began with Pascal, Carl Weathers, and a third actor before names like Werner Herzog and Amy Sedaris became known. Hopefully, this series’ cast will be as expansive and surprising.
The Book of Boba Fett debuts December 29th on Disney+.
