Kara Faces The Last Gauntlet In A Preview Of The ‘Supergirl’ Series Finale

by Erik Amaya

The final hours of Supergirl are nearly upon us. And as this preview of next week’s two-hour series finale indicates, the Super Friends are calling in all the reinforcements to finish off Nxly (Peta Sergeant) and Lex (Jon Cryer) for good. But will the extra help really tip the scales? And will Kara (Melissa Benoist) remain in town when it is all over?

As for this week, we bid a somewhat fond adieu to William Dey (Staz Nair), one of a handful of characters to die in the show’s six year run. Consequently, he got a lot of character rehabilitation this week. We learned he’s from India — although he may have mentioned that early in his time at CatCo — and used his baking prowess to bond with Esme (Mila Jones).

He also gave Andrea Rojas (Julie Gonzalo) what for when she published Lex’s journal under his byline. We’re also inclined to think his final email to her was as much delivering a last story as it was reminding her that she put these events into motion. It’s hard to say if this will motivate her to do something good with her powers next week, but maybe a redemption is still on the table for her.

For William, though, it’s a fair-enough way to wrap his story up. Sure, he was meant to be more of a love interest for Kara, but idealistic reporter to the bitter end fits him just as well. We just wish he had been more of this character earlier on.

Supergirl airs, one last time, next Tuesday on The CW.
