Valve’s Portable Console ‘Steam Deck’ Delayed To February

by Sage Ashford

Valve’s portable Steam Deck console has been delayed from its original release date in December until February 2022. Originally announced in July, Valve’s Steam Deck was meant to be a portable system with its own custom operating system that would be able to run most Steam games. Valve apologized for the delay on their blog, saying that the reason for the delay comes down to material shortages leading to having an insufficient amount of components to get the consoles out on time.

The company also notes those further back in the reservation queue will be shifted back even further to accommodate the people who were meant to get their console in December. This is doubtless frustrating for fans everywhere, as chip shortages have already made it nearly impossible to get any new tech like graphics cards or PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series consoles.
