Mika Abdalla Reportedly Set To Play Tinya Wazzo On ‘The Flash’
by Erik Amaya
The Flash is once again expanding its hero roster.
Collider reports actor Mika Abdalla will play Tinya Wazzo sometime during the program’s eighth season. That name will be quite familiar to fans of DC Comics’s Legion of Superheroes. A native of the planet Bgztl — a world out of phase with the rest of the galaxy — Tinya’s innate ability to shift between dimensions served her well as the Legion’s Phantom Girl. The character first appeared in 1961’s Action Comics #267 in a story by Jerry Siegel and Jim Mooney as a new friend for Supergirl, but became very popular with fans across the decades.
It is unclear if she will maintain her ties to the Legion (or the Arrowverse version as seen on Supergirl), but the character will reportedly emerge during one of Iris’s (Candice Patton) investigations. That detail suggests to us one possible story thread. Back in the 1990s, Tinya was presumed dead by her 30th Century cohorts, but was in fact alive in the 20th Century. Suffering from amnesia, she joined L.E.G.I.O.N. alongside Brainiac 5’s ancestor, Vril Dox, Lar Gang before his 1000 year exile in the Phantom Zone, and other characters with ties to the Legion of the 30th Century.
Considering the current “Armageddon” storyline, it is possible the series will pull another idea from the 1990s and feature a version of Tinya who is both timelost and missing her memories.
The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
