The Marvels is keeping its score in the Marvel family.
Variety reports composer Laura Karpman, who gave the Watcher his signature theme in Disney+’s What If…?, has joined the crew of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain Marvel sequel. The film, directed by Nia DaCosta from a script by Megan McDonnell, sees the return of Brie Larson‘s Carol Danvers. Joining her on the adventure is both Ms. Marvel lead character Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and WandaVision‘s Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) — a character who could easily also take the name “Captain Marvel.” Of course, it is unclear what their journey may entail, but considering Rambeau was last seen talking to a Skrull, it’s always possible both she and Kamala will find their way into space.
In a statement to the site, Karpman said, ““I am thrilled to be going on this wild adventure with Nia DaCosta and Carol Danvers and am really looking forward to the collaboration.”
The film is currently slated for release on February 17th, 2023. But considering the Marvel calendar continues to shift and evolve, that date may yet change.
