Based on the award-winning video game, The Cuphead Show follows the unique misadventures of loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman. The show and game draw heavy inspiration from 1930s inkblot cartoons. Thankfully the showrunners have managed to capture the retro charm without downplaying the dark supernatural elements found in vintage cartoons. Animated video game adaptations have been surprising hits and it’s good to see an indie gem get its due.
The Cuphead Show comes to Netflix this February.
