Enter The Fixed Point On Next Week’s ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’
by Erik Amaya
The best known time travel blunder is attempting to stop the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy. But slightly less well known is the attempt to avert the Great War by saving Archduke Franz Ferdinand Carl Ludwig Joseph Maria of Austria. And if this preview for next week’s Legends of Tomorrow is any indication, the Legends are about to find out why preventing his assassination is folly. For some, it is the Fixed Point and an amusement to see time travelers fail. But will the Legends succeed and utterly alter the 20th Century?
As for this week, we have to admit the central conceit once again failed to power forty-two minutes of story. Sure, it was a lot stronger as we’re back with “our” Legends and it had a solid finish with Behrad (Shayan Sobhian) working up the courage to be genuine, but the reality show parodies fell flat after awhile. Admittedly, we don’t watch a lot of reality shows, so Sara’s (Caity Lotz) makeover and desire to go on vacation went over our heads and it is possible we just weren’t in on the joke. Nevertheless, like last week, it still felt stretched, which is a shame as Legends is usually pretty good at that. But, hopefully, the Fixed Point and the return of the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher) next week will see the show hitting on all thrusters again.
Legends of Tomorrow airs Wednesdays on The CW.
