Ray Stevenson To Join Disney+ ‘Ahsoka’ Series

by Erik Amaya

Ray Stevensen is settling in for another Disney role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has joined the cast of the upcoming Ahsoka. The series, from Star Wars: The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni, continues the story of Jedi Exile Ahsoka Tano — voiced by Ashley Eckstein in Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, but played by Rosario Dawson in live action — as she, presumably, continues the search for Grand Admiral Thrawn and, we hope, Ezra Bridger.

It is unknown who Stevensen will play, but as hopes keep riding high that the show will bring all of the surviving Rebels characters into live action, we’ll suggest the Lasat Zeb Orrelios as a possible character. Of course, that all depends on whether or not Stevensen wants to wear make-up. If not, there’s always plenty of human-looking people for Ahsoka and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to encounter. The program will also feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead in an as-yet undisclosed role, Ivanna Sakhno, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. As the site notes, Stevensen previously voiced Clone Wars and Rebels character Gar Saxon, a Mandalorian who held the Darksaber. It’s always possible he could be a relative (the character is long dead by the time Ahsoka reportedly takes place) or Saxon in flashback, but we’d like to think there are other roles for him in the Star Wars galaxy. Also, we have plenty of Mandos running around as it is.

The actor has also played The Punisher and the MCU version of Volstagg.

When it was first announced, Ahsoka was planned to be part of an event tying it, The Mandalorian, and Rangers of the New Republic together. Since those days, Rangers fell out of active development. Also, sites like Deadline began referring to Ahsoka as a limited series, suggesting the big crossover event may just stay in the purview of The Mandalorian if it happens at all now.

Production is set to begin in April.
