‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’ Teaser Offers First Glimpse At The Second Age

by Erik Amaya

The Second Age of Middle-earth is said to be a time of splendor. But if this teaser for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is any indication, the Free Peoples still have a ways to go before building the kingdoms told of in song 3000 or so years lat

Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) takes center stage as her hunt for the remainder of Morgoth’s forces takes her to the frozen wastes and the Sundering Sea. We also get glimpses of Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Dwarf royals Durin IV (Owain Arthur) and Disa (Sophia Nomvete), and Arondir, (Ismael Cruz Córdova), a Silvan Elf in Harad carrying on an affair with a moral women. Other characters glimpsed include Markella Kavenagh‘s as-yet unnamed Harfoot and Benjamin Walker as an Elf of some esteem. Is it possible this is our first look at Gil-Galad?

But some splendor is on display, at least in the harbor we presume to be on the island of Númenor, an ascendant kingdom of Men loyal to the Valar in the First Age. Sadly, their story crosses with Sauron and the ending of the tale is epic enough to serve as Rings of Power‘s series finale.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power debuts on Prime Video September 22nd.
