A Promo For The ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Season Finale Teases One Last Ride
by Erik Amaya
While it is still unclear if Legends of Tomorrow will be back next year, finality suddenly seems part of their story. And as this preview for next week’s season finale indicates, they will travel in time to save Gwyn (Matt Ryan) — but Gideon (Amy Pemberton), Gideon (also Pemberton) and whole army of robot Gideons (all played by Pemberton) are poised to stop them. Will this be the Legends last ride?
The ambiguity about the series future offers next week’s program an unusual tension and, possibly, finality. Indeed, that could be felt this week with the party and the futures Gideon offered the team. While some seem great — particularly Behrad’s (Shayan Sobhian) fate as a children’s entertainer — there is also a sense that these may not be the right places for them The lack of Zari 1.0 (Tala Ashe) in Nate’s (Nick Zano) vision and Zari 2.0’s sense that her future success is a backslide all speak to some further trouble. But, then again, shouldn’t the Legends get a chance to have a something bright and not as dangerous to look forward to?
Which leads back to the sensation we’ve had all season that several people are ready to leave should the program continue.
We want these characters to live their best lives in the event the Waverider takes its final journey through time, but we also want them to remains close friends. But perhaps this is the emotional stake the show is finally ready to put out there and then, at the last moment, service triumphantly as the Legends get ready for another adventure in a possible Season 8. That would be a merrier future indeed.
Legends of Tomorrow airs Wednesdays on The CW.
