SXSW 2022: Visit The DC Fan Activation And CreateMe Space

by Gary Catig

DC Comics is making their way to Austin this weekend for SXSW. They will be there along with Warner Bros. Consumer Products at the SXSW WarnerMedia House located at 315 Lavaca St. from March 11th – 13th. They will be open from 10 am CST – 8 pm CST each day and will have plenty of engaging activities for fans to experience.

First, the space highlights some of DC’s favorite characters and displays actual film and TV items from the Batsuit in The Batman to props and costumes from Peacemaker and so much more. In addition, there will be DC product reveals from Puma and Carhartt. For those who enjoy SWAG, there are multiple giveaways each day on a first-come, first-served basis such as DC Funko Pops, comics, and LEGO.

You can also catch the first peeks at the DC Hybrid Trading Cards by Hro. They are a new platform that incorporates both the physical and digital world where you can unlock the DC Multiverse to collect, trade, and purchase the first ever DC-based hybrid NFT trading cards. Hro will give visitors a chance to own a physical trading card with an NFT component.

On the ground floor of the WarnerMedia house, which is open to the public, there are many photo and social opportunities to excite fans with everything DC is doing this year. Visit the “Bat Cave” in the garage to see the Batmobile from Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Those who enjoy the Harley Quinn series on HBO Max will not want to miss the adult animation panel with the show’s producers alongside create executives from Warner Bros. Animation and HBO Max. They will discuss the process of bringing popular characters, including the Clown Princess of Crime, onto our screens and not being limited by a family-friendly tone.

You can also visit the CreateMe Space located at 318. E. 5th St. on Saturday, March 12th, from 11 am CST – 7 pm CST (21+) to customize gear with DC’s iconic characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Green Lantern. CreateMe is debuting its innovative retail customization technology at this year’s SXSW “which powers product co-creation through embellishment, embroidery, vintage upcycling, and more, allowing fans to show off their favorite characters exactly how they want.”

The CreateMe Space has four kiosks where you can craft custom designs onto water bottles, hats, and more. There is also a lounge with a photo booth and because you need to be 21 or over, hang out for happy hour with live entertainment.
