Writer Andrew Wheeler and artist Travis Moore’s new comic book, Sins of the Black Flamingo is described as a new five-issue “sinister and sexy” series coming from Image Comics this June for Pride Month.
Joining them will be colour artist Tamra Bonvillain (Wonder Woman, Crush & Lobo) and letterer Aditya Bidikar (Arkham City: The Order of the World, John Constantine: Hellblazer), amking this one of the few American comic books from an all-queer creative team.
“Occult Noir. Miami Sleaze. In Sins of the Black Flamingo, Sebastian Harlow is the eponymous Black Flamingo, a flamboyant and narcissistic thief who gets his kicks stealing mystic artifacts from the wealthy and corrupt of Miami’s occult underground. But when his latest job leads him to his biggest score so far, the hedonistic outlaw discovers something he wasn’t looking for—something to believe in.”
Wheeler Says of the series:
“Positive representation is vitally important. But we also need complicated, messy, queer anti-heroes, and the Black Flamingo is messy as f*ck!
With Sins of the Black Flamingo I want to introduce readers to a glamorous, tawdry world of dark secrets and queer spectacle that’s unlike anything they’ve experienced before. Thanks to the incredible talents of Travis, Tamra, and Aditya, I think that’s exactly what readers are going to get! These artists are the best in the business, and I’m so proud to be working with them!”
Sins of the Black Flamingo #1 will be out on Wednesday, June 29 from Image Comics.
