Spoilers to follow.
Deadline reports All American‘s Anna Lore has joined the cast of The CW’s Gotham Knights pilot as Stephanie Brown. The character, also known as the Spoiler, Robin, and Batgirl, was created by Chuck Dixon and Tom Lyle. She made her live action debut in the most recent season of Batwoman (played by Morgan Kohan), where she was introduced as a potential love interest for Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson) and a possible future member of the Bat team. Of course, with Batwoman not yet renewed for a fourth year, it is hard to say if The CW will attempt to feature two Stephanie Browns on the loosely connected shows.
That said, the potential series — from Batwoman executive producers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash — will not be spinoff of that show or related to the Gotham Knights comic book or video game. Instead, it takes place in a Gotham City where the Batman is dead and his “rebellious adopted son” forms an “unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies” when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. Wanted by the GCPD, the group must fight to clear their names in a Gotham with no Dark Knight hovering over it. Oscar Morgan stars as Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Batman at the center of the trouble. Additional cast includes Olive Rose Keegan, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Misha Collins as Harvey Dent, and Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelly.
As Gotham Knights is currently still just a pilot order, it is possible it may not go to series. But considering the network’s push for younger DC characters of late, the program may be a top priority — even to the point of adding characters seeming slated for other superhero shows on the network.
