Skydance New Media Lucasfilm Games Star Wars

The last time everyone heard about Skydance New Media, it was when they announced they were working on a Marvel title based on a popular, but unknown hero(es).  This time around, the developer is announcing they are working with Lucasfilm Games to develop a “cinematic action-adventure game” with an original story set in the Star Wars universe.

The President of Skydance New Media, Amy Hennig, spoke a bit about the project:

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly […] I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Hennig has worked on a Star Wars game. Most famously, she was in charge of the EA Star Wars game coming out of Visceral Games before that studio was shut down.

Interestingly, this is the seventh such Star Wars project announced recently. Respawn mentioned they would be working on three different Star Wars games, including a Jedi Fallen Order sequel and a Star Wars FPS title. Meanwhile, Ubisoft and Massive are working on an open-world Star Wars title. Elsewhere, Aspyr Media is developing a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. And most recently, Quantic Dream announced they would be working on Star Wars: Eclipse, an action-adventure title. It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan and a gamer.
