In a storyline taken straight out of The Flight Attendant, Veronica (Camila Mendes) woke up to find Heraldo (Ricardo Hoyos) dead in her bed this week. According to Dr. Curdle (Nikolai Witschl), the cause of death was poison, but what if Veronica did it?
To be honest, until the trailer for next week’s episode, the possibility hadn’t really occurred to me. Percival (Chris O’Shea) was such an uncontested villain in “Ex-Libris” that it made sense that he would be responsible for Heraldo’s death, too, but whether or not Veronica meant to kill Heraldo, what if, like Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), her superpower is presenting itself late? She might not have realized her kiss was lethal when she invited Heraldo to spend the night, but either she realizes it now (and that’s why her lips are black in the promo for “Venomous”) or the new lipstick is a dig at her accusers.
Either way, Percival’s library crusade this week was pretty diabolical. Never have overdue books been wielded so efficiently, as he continues to stay one step ahead of everyone. Inevitably, he’s due for a fall eventually, but are Archie (KJ Apa) and his friends the ones to bring one about?
Other thoughts on “Ex-Libris”:
- Talk about being sensitive about a yearbook photo. Miss. Grundy (Sarah Habel) took advantage of Archie, and if that’s why the yearbook photos hit so hard, that’s a completely different story, but sometimes it came across like Archie was upset because being a musician was something to be ashamed of, and that’s not right.
- At one point Veronica would’ve considered herself Betty’s best friend. Anyone else find themselves nostalgic for those days after hearing Veronica calls Dr. Curdle Betty’s bestie this week (and why can’t Betty (Lili Reinhart) catch a break from serial killers)?
