‘The Flash’ Delivers A Solid Yet Late Episode

It’s strange what’s considered a solid episode of television at the beginning of a season compared to the end of it. This season of The Flash has been all over the place. An early crossover stalled the main storyline, which then felt as if it ended prematurely, just to build up for a second main storyline that is building towards the show’s finale. Overall, the season has felt jerky, like a car with a driver that keeps slamming on the brakes. The weird thing is, the individual episodes have been quite entertaining. And as the Flash (Grant Gustin) deals with a new threat, this one was no different.
The overall plot of the episode sees the Flash blasted with some radiation that causes him to age at an accelerated rate. After so many seasons, it’s strange that they haven’t explored this type of challenge earlier. But it is fairly effective in challenging Barry Allen as a character. He hasn’t hit this roadblock before. But like always, he finds a way to overcome it in the face of death and comes out the other side stronger than ever. It’s predictable, but it should nonetheless be fun for fans of The Flash who stayed with the show for this long.
Also, it seems as if the show is gearing up towards Joe West’s (Jesse L. Martin) departure at the end of the season as he is questioning his place in retirement. And we can’t forget Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) attempts to resurrect Frost. All signs point to this being the main obstacle for the season’s finale. But with Frost dead and Caitlin being a good guy, I’m curious as to how the challenge will present itself. A part of me wishes that Caitlin turns to Deathstorm for help, as the terrifying villain’s time on the show was cut short. But it seems fans will just have to wait and see how all of this develops into a new threat.
