Out Right Now: School’s Out For ‘Summer In Monster Fun’ #2

More details about the delights to be found inside coming soon, but just from the cover we can see that you’ll be seeing the likes of Kid Kong, Draculass, Hell’s Angel, and Frankie Stein, all tickling your funny bones along with more of one of Britain’s favourite superhero, Leopard From Lime Street from Simon Furman and Laurent LeFeuvre. and the rather brilliantly silly continuing adventures of Steel Commando by Ned Hartley and Dan Boultwood.
To get an idea of what to expect, you can have a look back at our preview of the first Monster Fun that came out in April. Like I keep saying, it’s the first major kids’ comic release here in the UK since The Phoenix Comic in 2012, and it’s something we should all be getting behind, and that’s just what we’re doing here at Comicon!
One thing to get the younger readers involved and inspired for the summer holidays is the new Comic Creation Competition that’s running all summer, where young readers get their chance to submit their own ideas for a story that they could see created and printed in a future Monster Fun. Kids up to the age of 16 can enter, with writer Ned Hartley and artist Karl Dixon on hand to transform the winning idea into a Monster Fun comic.

The Monster Fun Comic Creation Competition will also be supported by Fun Kids Radio, The Reading Agency, and Oxford’s Story Museum, all of whom will be making additional resources available to inspire kids to get creating. Fun Kids Radio has a special episode of the Activity Quest Podcast, Comics With Monster Fun, featuring Ned and Karl, The Reading Agency features plenty of comics in their Summer Reading Challenge, and the Story Museum in Oxford are running a series of events in support of the Ka-Boom! The Art of Creating Comics! exhibition.
