SDCC 2022: Fred Van Lente To Unleash ‘Jennifer Blood Presents: Giulietta Romeo: Hitwoman’ In October
by Erik Amaya
Italian assassin Giulietta Romeo is getting her own comic book this October.
On Wednesday, Dynamite Entertainment announced the imminent arrival of Jennifer Blood Presents: Giulietta Romeo: Hitwoman — a one-shot comic book from writer Fred Van Lente centering on the character from Van Lente’s recent Jennifer Blood: Bloodlines. But in a curious twist, the tale will see Giuletta playing out her own noirish version of William Shakespeare‘s The Tempest. “La Tempesta” sees her being extradited to Italy after the events of the “Bountiful” storyline. But her plane is shot down over a remote Atlantic island which happens to be a former Nazi stronghold that is now the tiny kingdom of a man named Prospero, a one time capo in Neopolitan organized crime. His brother, the man who usurped his position, was also on the plane. Soon, Giulietta finds herself in the middle of a blood feud and fighting for her life against Prospero’s monstrous servants, Caliban and Ariel.
“I think all readers will really love the Hot New Crime Writer of 2022, William “Bloody Billy” Shakespeare,” Van Lente joked. “I’m just the vessel that is bringing the island mob vengeance saga La Tempesta to life.”
Jennifer Blood Presents: Giulietta Romeo: Hitwoman is due out in October.
