‘Andor’ Trailer Spies Saw Gerrera; New Release Date Announced

by Erik Amaya

The Bothan spies have some explaining to do.

Disney+ confirmed Monday morning that Andor, the next Star Wars series, will debut on September 21st. Originally meant to premiere on August 31st, the program centers on Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. At that time he’s … well, not really a Rebel. But as seen in this new trailer, a chance encounter with Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) will force him to reconsidering his “survival first” mentality. And it just so happen that this life-altering moment coincides with an uptick in Rebel activity as leaders like Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker) begin their plans for war.

Also of interest, the program will premiere with the first three episodes; the subsequent nine episodes will stream weekly on Disney+. We’re not entirely sure what motivated the date change, but considering She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will also debut episodes on Wednesdays through October, having fewer weeks in which the shows overlap definitely makes us feel better. There’s only so much attention one can give to the Disney streamer!

Andor debuts on September 21st.
