Crowdfund This: ‘Tripwire’ Magazine Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary With New Hardcover
by Richard Bruton
The 30th anniversary of Tripwire magazine sees a great history of comics journalism funding for a lavish celebratory book.
For the last 30 years, Tripwire magazine and its Editor-in-chief Joel Meadows have brought us great comics journalism that should rightly be celebrated.
And to do this, Meadows and Tripwire have turned to Zoop to crowdfund their 30th anniversary with an impressive 224 page limited hardcover book featuring the best art and features from the magazine’s history, all introduced by new pieces from Meadows, a brand new foreword by Image’s Dirk Wood, and an introduction by Previews editor Marty Grosser.
Tripwire’s been at the forefront of print comics journalism since Meadows began the magazine back in 1992 at the oh so young age of just 19. Since then, through various iterations, it’s continued to cover all aspects of the medium and the industry, including its ever-growing influence in the greater world of entertainment.
Inside the 30th anniversary volume, Meadows has selected the best of Tripwire’s features and interviews over the decades, giving us all an insight into the last three decades of comics, the ups and downs of the industry, the biggest of big names, including interviews with the greats of comics including Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Matt Groening, Guillermo del Toro, Joss Whedon, Drew Struzan, and Mike Mignola, and published plenty of incredible art over the years. You’ll also see full page art from the likes of Jock), Frank Quitely, Struzan, Miller, Walter Simonson, Bill Sienkiewicz, Laurence Campbell, Frazer Irving, Simon Davis, Roger Langridge and many others.
And finally, Meadows also includes the latest in his own comic endeavours with the debut of Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders comic strip by Meadows and artist Andy Bennett.
As you’d expect, Tripwire 30 comes with various pledge levels including digital and print copies, and a signed hardcover that’s signed by Signed by Frank Quitely, Liam Sharp, Walter Simonson, Martin Simmonds, Shawn Martinborough, Andy Bennett, with more said to be coming but yet to be confirmed.
After the primary rewards, there’s the chance to enhance the whole thing with add-ons, including art prints from Frank Quitely, Bill Sienkiewicz, Andy Bennett, a Tripwire covers art print, and a Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders art print.
