Undergound Rappers Create Killer AMVs

by Tito W. James

Anime Music Video (AMV) is a fan-made music video where clips from anime are edited to the rhythm of a popular song. The fan-made content has grown more sophisticated in recent years. So much so, that indie rappers are utilizing clips from anime to create AMVs set to their original songs. Rappers have always had a history of sampling and remixing elements to create something raw and original.

There’s something about these young indie musical artists that speaks to me more than the high profile rappers you hear on the radio. It’s already been said that rap music lost its edge when the money got involved. What’s refreshing about these up-and-coming artists is that they’re rapping about what they’re genuinely passionate about as opposed to what they’re paid to promote.
