Aniplex Fest Debuts The New Trailer For The ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ Anime

by Sage Ashford

Looks like Rurouni Kenshin is getting a remake from the ground up. A new trailer from studio LIDENFILMS premiered during the Aniplex Online Fest that shows Kenshin during his Hitokiri Battousai phase, and announcing the series will be airing sometime in 2023.

Though this series’ existence was announced last year, this is the first time anyone’s spoken about it with much detail. The series will be directed by Hideyo Yamamoto, best known for his work on Strike the Blood. Character designs are being handled by Terumi Nishii (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure IV: Diamond Is Unbreakable), while Hideyuki Kurata (Goblin Slayer, Girls’ Frontline) will handle series composition.

Kenshin has never gotten a complete adaptation before, with the original anime going into filler after the conclusion of the Kyoto Arc. Seemingly, this will adapt the missing final storyline in the Jinchuu arc. No word on whether they will continue adapting the series with a focus on the Hokkaido Arc.
