R.I.P. ‘Arrowsmith’ Artist And Co-Creator Carlos Pacheco (1961 – 2022)

More grim news to share with you all, I’m afraid. And that is the death of artist Carlos Pacheco who succumbed to his recently announced diagnosis for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). A disease that symptoms involve the loss of motor neurons and then paralysis and, sadly, a greatly reduced lifespan.

Starting odd working in his native Spain for Planeta De Agostini before working for Marvel UK, Pacheco was soon picked up for greener pastures and more recognisable success at DC Comics and Marvel. And for both these companies he worked on some big name titles like Green Lantern, Superman, Captain America, Fantastic Four as well as a personal favourite of mine, Avengers Forever.

He also created Arrowsmith for Image Comics which he co-created and owned with his Avengers Forever collaborator, Kurt Busiek, with a follow-up series, Arrowsmith: Behind Enemy Lines final issue delayed because of his ALS diagnosis.
